Juvenile prosecutors of the Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor's Office ensured confirmation of the sentence in the Vinnytsia Court of Appeal to the driver who committed a fatal road accident (part 3 of Art 286-1, part 3 of Art. 135 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). 

He was sentenced to 10 years in prison with a 10-year driving ban.

In the courts of first instance and appeal, prosecutors proved that the man, driving under the influence of alcohol, ran into a minor pedestrian who was crossing the carriageway with his parents on an unregulated pedestrian crossing on Pirogov Street in Vinnytsia.

The driver of the car ran away from the scene of the accident. A 5-year-old boy died in the hospital from his injuries.

The Court of Appeal agreed with the prosecutor's arguments about the validity and appropriateness of the imposed sentence.

The sentence became final.
