Under the procedural guidance of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office, a senior officer of one of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine's departments has been notified of suspicion for aiding a conscripted man in illegally crossing the state border for selfish motives.

According to the investigation, the suspect agreed to help the conscripted man for 10,000 US dollars. He was wanted because he failed to appear at the Military Commissariat on time for a combat summons. 

Initially, the officer, who had a wide circle of acquaintances in various fields, assisted the conscripted man in obtaining fake medical certificates stating that he was supposedly undergoing outpatient treatment for "COVID-19" during the specified period. After that, she promised to arrange for the man to be employed at a defense enterprise with critical importance status, which would grant him exemption from conscription and the right to cross the state border based on decisions regarding business trips.

Immediately after receiving 8,700 US dollars from the conscripted man, the woman was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Prior to this, the fact of her receiving an advance of 1,300 dollars was also documented.

The actions of the suspect have been qualified as aiding in the illegal crossing of a person across the state border of Ukraine, committed for selfish motives (Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Currently, at the request of the investigator and prosecutor, the court has chosen a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention with the possibility of release under a bail of 484,000 UAH.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Investigative Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Sumy region in cooperation with the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the defense sector of the Central region and the Security Service of Ukraine in the Sumy region under the procedural guidance of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office.
