Prosecutors of the Dniester District Prosecutor's Office have sent indictments to the court regarding two residents of the Chernivtsi region who were engaged in illegal fishing of aquatic biological resources in the Dniester Reservoir (Part 1 of Article 249, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 249 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Without any permits and using prohibited tools, they were involved in fishing. Among the catch were crayfish and rare species of fish listed in the Red Book of Ukraine.

The environment suffered damage exceeding 1.2 million UAH.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Dniester District Police Department.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
