Prosecutors of the Kryvyi Rih Central District Prosecutor's Office reported suspicion against a local resident for facilitating the illegal transportation of conscripted men across the state border of Ukraine and receiving unlawful benefits for influencing officials (Part 3 of Article 332, Part 2 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the suspect promised a conscripted man to help influence one of the district judges for 12,000 US dollars, who was to make a decision on establishing the fact of independent upbringing and maintenance of a minor child — as a guardian. 

This would subsequently provide grounds for obtaining a deferment from military service and unhindered crossing of the state border of Ukraine.

The man was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine while receiving part of the "reward" in the amount of 8,000 US dollars.

Currently, the suspect has been placed in custody as a preventive measure.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
