Under the public prosecution of the prosecutors of the Vinnytsia Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense, a former serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has been convicted of treason (part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and desertion (part 1 of Article 408 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He has been sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

In court, prosecutors proved that in March 2014, during the temporary occupation of Crimea, a senior engineer of the missile and artillery armament service of the military unit of the tactical group of the Air Forces "Crimea" did not arrive at the new place of deployment and refused to continue serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Subsequently, he switched to the side of the Russian army, signed a contract, and took the position of a division commander in one of the military units in Crimea.

Since the accused is located in the temporarily occupied territory, the proceedings were conducted under a special procedure (in absentia).

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the territorial office of the State Bureau of Investigation (located in the city of Vinnytsia) in the city of Khmelnytskyi under the procedural guidance of the Vinnytsia Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense.
