With the support of the public prosecution by the prosecutors of the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office, the court found a resident of the Uman district guilty of sabotage and damage to energy facilities (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 113, Part 2 of Article 194-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The prosecutor proved in court that from May to July 2024, the man received tasks via Telegram from a representative of the Russian special services regarding the arson of transformer substations, railway distribution cabinets, and energy facilities in the region. The arsonist carried out the instructions of the special services mainly at night. For the completed tasks, the convicted man received monetary rewards to a cryptocurrency wallet.

In July 2024, during another nighttime arson, law enforcement officers uncovered and detained the man at the scene of the crime with fuel and lubricants. His phone contained photo and video evidence of the arsons.

The man is in custody.

The pre-trial investigation and operational support were carried out by the employees of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Cherkasy region under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor's office.
