October 18 is the European Day against Human Trafficking

During the war, the vulnerability of Ukrainians increases. Behind this are real people who are deceived or forcibly deprived of their freedom, dignity, and future.

In the Office of the Prosecutor General, an Interagency Working Group on the detection, prevention, and investigation of crimes related to human trafficking is operating.

In 2025, law enforcement agencies registered 144 criminal proceedings for human trafficking. 85 individuals were suspected, 21 were convicted, and another 60 are awaiting court sentences.

86 individuals, including 10 children, have been recognized as victims.

Human trafficking is not only forced labor or sexual exploitation.

It includes begging, organ trafficking, online exploitation, involvement in criminal activities, and adoption for commercial purposes.

Anyone can be affected—regardless of age, gender, or status.

Law enforcement agencies are combating these most dangerous and cynical crimes against human freedom and dignity.
