The Kyiv Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Defense Sector of the Central Region, together with the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv, with operational support from the Main Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine in the Kyiv region, has informed a citizen of suspicion of aiding a public official in receiving unlawful benefits (Part 5 of Article 27, Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the citizen established a scheme to facilitate the provision of unlawful benefits to officials of one of the district Military Recruitment Centers and Social Protection in Kyiv for resolving issues related to military registration.

The suspect promised the citizen that for 20,000 US dollars, he would influence the officials of the Military Recruitment Center and Social Protection to remove information about his wanted status from the "Oberih" database and to arrange the necessary documents allowing him to cross the state border under martial law conditions.

After receiving the first part of the unlawful benefit in the amount of 10,000 US dollars, the individual was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. A preventive measure in the form of detention has been chosen for him.

Currently, measures are being taken to identify and hold accountable other individuals involved in the commission of the crime.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
