July 30 - World Human Trafficking Day
30.07.2025
On July 30, the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons is observed globally, proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 2013 to raise public awareness of this issue and draw attention to the plight of millions of people who have suffered from this crime, as well as to encourage individuals to actively assist and combat this crime.
The Prosecutor General's Office is continuously strengthening its efforts against all forms of human trafficking, particularly through the activities of a specialized department. Since 2021, an Interagency Working Group on the Detection, Suppression, and Investigation of Crimes Related to Human Trafficking has been operating, which helps to enhance the effectiveness of work in this area. Additionally, interdepartmental working groups also function in Regional Prosecutors' Offices, and nearly 300 prosecutors have been designated by specialization.
Currently, law enforcement agencies are investigating 235 criminal cases related to human trafficking, including labor exploitation, sexual exploitation, forced begging, and other forms of exploitation.
Since the beginning of 2025, law enforcement has reported suspicions against 51 individuals for committing 75 criminal offenses in this category. Twenty-six indictments concerning 31 individuals for 59 criminal offenses have been submitted to the court. The courts have reviewed 14 criminal proceedings against 14 individuals, of whom seven have received actual sentences.
The Prosecutor General’s Office urges the public to report any known cases of human trafficking to law enforcement agencies and to seek assistance in case of threats or suspicions of a crime.
