Law enforcement officers uncovered an official of the Korosten City Council for obtaining illegal benefits through fictitious employment with the right to reservation. He offered a person a job at one of the local establishments without actual performance of official duties and guaranteed the arrangement of reservation and resolution of issues related to military registration.

As the investigation established, such a "contract" was to be valid for a year with a subsequent extension for an additional fee.

The official valued his "service" at 4,000 US dollars, half of which he received as an advance. During the second transfer of part of the bribe, he was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

The actions of the suspect were qualified as a request and receipt of illegal benefits by an official, in conspiracy with a group of individuals (part 3 of Article 368 of Ukraine). Prosecutors are preparing a motion for his detention as a preventive measure in the form of custody.

Under the procedural guidance of the Zhytomyr Regional Prosecutor's Office, the pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Zhytomyr region with operational support from the regional SBU office.

Currently, law enforcement officers are checking other facts of fictitious employment, as well as the involvement of other individuals in the commission of the crime.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
