$ 82 thousand for withdrawal from search and organizing illegal crossing across the state border: detained serviceman

The Kyiv Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Central region, together with the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv, with the operational support of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine, has reported suspicion against a serviceman for committing criminal offenses under Part 3 of Article 332 and Part 2 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (organization of illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine and abuse of influence).

According to the investigation, the serviceman, acting out of selfish motives, organized a criminal scheme to evade mobilization and exit abroad.

In particular, he offered a citizen for $41,000 to organize illegal transportation across the state border by transporting him in his own vehicle to the border and subsequently crossing it outside the established procedure for document checks and vehicle inspections to the Republic of Moldova.

The serviceman also promised another citizen, for the same amount of unlawful benefit, to influence officials of one of the Kyiv medical institutions and the Military Commissariat to produce forged medical documents and a military medical commission certificate to remove the latter from the wanted list and exclude him from military registration, which would allow him to exit abroad.

After receiving an unlawful benefit of $82,000, the perpetrator was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and the subject of the unlawful benefit was seized.

The suspect has been chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention with the possibility of bail.

The serviceman faces punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of seven to nine years, with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years, along with confiscation of property.

Currently, measures are being taken to identify and hold accountable other individuals involved in the commission of the crime.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
