It has been established that in 2015, the man voluntarily signed a contract for military service in the "7th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Chystiakiv Brigade," and later served in the "1st Separate Battalion Tactical Group 'Somali'."

These military units, subordinate to the occupying forces of the Russian Federation, were stationed in the city of Debaltseve and actively participated in combat operations against the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Donetsk region.  

The man was detained on November 1, 2025, in Volyn, where he had arrived from the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine to obtain a Ukrainian passport and subsequently flee to the European Union. 

Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the regional security oversight department of the Volyn Regional Prosecutor's Office, he was informed of suspicion of treason and participation in the activities of illegal armed formations (Part 1 of Article 111, Part 2 of Article 260 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

At the request of the prosecutors, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention without the right to bail.

Pre-trial investigation: The Security Service of Ukraine in the Volyn region with operational support from the 6th Volyn Border Detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
