The blogger who spread information about the deployment of the Ukrainian military will serve real punishment
08.12.2025
A blogger from Chernivtsi, who disclosed the coordinates of a Ukrainian Armed Forces unit during a livestream and posted the video online despite military warnings, has been sentenced to 5 years in prison.
Prosecutors from the Office of the Prosecutor General and the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor's Office proved the validity of the verdict in courts of all instances. They insisted that the woman's actions posed a real threat to Ukrainian soldiers, as the information shared allowed for the identification of the exact location of the unit under martial law conditions.
The investigation established that the woman actively managed her social media channels and regularly filmed provocative videos near the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In the summer of 2023, during another livestream, she verbally disclosed the coordinates of a Ukrainian unit while commenting on what she saw and demonstrating elements of the terrain that allowed for the identification of the military's location.
The video clearly shows how soldiers ask her to stop filming, as capturing objects could jeopardize the safety of the unit. However, the blogger ignored the warnings and continued the broadcast.
After that, she published the livestream on her YouTube and TikTok channels without any editing that could conceal the coordinates, thereby opening access to sensitive information to an unlimited audience.
The first-instance and appellate courts found her guilty under Part 2 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - unauthorized dissemination of data about the movement or location of Ukrainian Armed Forces units under martial law conditions.
The Supreme Court agreed with the prosecutor's arguments: the punishment imposed by the first-instance court in the form of 5 years of imprisonment is fair and proportionate to the committed crime.
The ruling came into legal force from the moment of its announcement and is not subject to appeal.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators from the Security Service of Ukraine in the Chernivtsi region.
