Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office, a 43-year-old man has been notified of suspicion in absentia for treason and the production and distribution of materials that contain justifications and denials of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine (Part 2 of Article 111, Part 2 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, since 2022, a native of the Sambir region, who lives abroad, has been spreading anti-Ukrainian propaganda through his own YouTube and Rutube channels.
In his videos, the man, who positions himself as a political expert in the media space of Ukraine, disseminates manipulative materials aimed at destabilizing the socio-political situation in the state, demoralizing the army, discrediting the authorities, and forming a negative image of the country on the international stage.
In particular, the suspect gave an interview to a journalist from a Belarusian channel, where he glorified the Soviet Union, condemned the Maidan, and criticized the actions of the current Ukrainian authorities.
Also, in his video blog, the man claimed that the war is contractual and clearly planned by the authorities. He broadcasted that “our women with children were deported from Ukraine, our Cossacks are being eliminated on an industrial scale,…this is genocide…this is a war for the oligarchs…”.
The suspect glorified the aggressor country and assured that coexistence with Russians would be peaceful and safe, citing Chechnya as an example.
All of this contributed to providing the Russian Federation with ideological support in destabilizing Ukraine's national security.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region.
Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
