A man who fired in Kharkiv at the Armed Forces veteran was detained (supplemented)

Under the procedural guidance of the Nemishlyansk District Prosecutor's Office of Kharkiv, a pre-trial investigation has been initiated regarding the fact of hooliganism under part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (hooliganism committed with the use of a specially adapted or pre-prepared item for causing bodily harm).
According to the investigation, on August 3, 2025, a conflict arose between men near a multi-apartment building on 92nd Brigade Street in Kharkiv.
During the quarrel, a 43-year-old suspect took out a traumatic PMR 9 mm pistol and shot at a veteran of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The victim is a Ukrainian defender who lost a leg while performing a combat mission during the war. A prosthesis has been fitted for the defender.
The man who fired the shot has been detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Update: Under the procedural guidance of the Nemishlyansk District Prosecutor's Office of Kharkiv, the 43-year-old man has been notified of suspicion regarding hooliganism committed with the use of a specially adapted or pre-prepared item for causing bodily harm (part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The issue of choosing a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention without setting the amount of bail is being resolved.
The victim is in the hospital, and medical staff are providing him with the necessary assistance.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Department No. 1 of the Kharkiv Regional Police Department No. 2.
Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
