By boat across the Tisza for USD 3,000 - the organizers of the illegal crossing were arrested

According to the investigation, in Transcarpathia, a serviceman from one of the military units, together with a civilian accomplice, established a scheme for the illegal crossing of the border with Hungary for conscripts. They determined the time and place of the transfer, collected money from those wishing to leave, and provided a nighttime crossing by boat across the Tisza River. The cost of such a "route" was 3 thousand US dollars per person: part of the money was transferred to a bank card, while the rest was handed over to one of the accomplices in cash.

The accomplices were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine during an attempt to smuggle three "clients" for 9 thousand US dollars. Administrative protocols were drawn up against the men who attempted to illegally leave the country.

Under the procedural guidance of the Transcarpathian Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the defense sector of the Western region, they were informed of suspicion regarding the illegal smuggling of individuals across the state border, committed by a group of individuals in conspiracy (part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Prosecutors filed a motion in court for the selection of preventive measures in the form of detention. For their actions, they face up to 9 years of imprisonment.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Transcarpathian region, with operational support from the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police of Ukraine and border guards of the 94th Border Detachment of the State Border Service of Ukraine.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
