Prosecutors of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for the Western Region, together with investigators and operative officers from the Security Service of Ukraine, exposed and detained a military serviceman who assisted Russia in carrying out subversive activities against Ukraine.

According to the investigation, a major in one of the military units of the Ukrainian Air Force passed information about the locations of Ukrainian units and military aviation equipment to representatives of the Russian Federation. He also informed the occupiers about the tactics of shelling Ukrainian airfields and methods of camouflaging equipment.

The evidence gathered indicates that the information provided could have been used to plan attacks on Ukraine's defense infrastructure.

A notice of suspicion for committing high treason (part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) is being prepared. Detention is planned pursuant to Article 615 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. At the same time, prosecutors are deciding on the issue of choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention for the defendant.

During searches of the suspect's place of work and residence, material evidence confirming his ties with the enemy was seized. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. 

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
