Dnipropetrovsk. The prosecutor's office has prevented an illegal reduction of the Dnieper River Coastal Protective Strip

The protection of nature conservation lands, forests, and water bodies from illegal use remains one of the key areas of work for the prosecution. The coastal protective strip of large rivers has a strict usage regime that ensures the preservation of water objects. The Dnipro River, the largest in Ukraine, plays an important role in the economy and life of the country.

In defending the interests of the state, prosecutors from the Western District Prosecutor's Office of Dnipro appealed to the administrative court with a lawsuit to declare the decision of the Dnipro City Council regarding the reduction of the coastal protective strip of the Dnipro River to 10 meters invalid.

A section of the embankment stretching 24 km was attempted to be shortened for further development in close proximity to the water.

The court agreed with the arguments of the prosecution and recognized the decision of the city council as unlawful and invalid.

The prosecution will continue to take measures to protect the interests of the state during the use of water fund lands. Special attention will be paid to identifying violations in the use of lands of coastal protective strips.
