Up to 12 years of imprisonment was convicted in absentia by an employee of the FSB of the Russian Federation, who tortured a civilian of the occupied territory of Zaporizhzhya region

Prosecutors of the Office of the Attorney General and the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office proved in court the guilt of an FSB employee of the Russian Federation, who was designated as a "curator" for the Vasylkiv district of the Zaporizhzhia region by representatives of the aggressor country.

In October 2022, the convicted individual, along with other representatives of the Russian occupation forces, kidnapped a woman from her place of residence and held her for 5 months on the territory of a military base, in a police department, and in a temporary detention facility in the occupied territory. To obtain information from the victim about individuals with pro-Ukrainian views, the occupiers subjected her to physical and psychological violence – hitting her on the head, choking her, threatening her with electric shock and sexual violence, simulating her execution, and so on.

The FSB employee of the Russian Federation is charged under Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He was sentenced to 12 years of imprisonment. The court partially satisfied the victim's claim for compensation for material and moral damages in the total amount of over 5 million hryvnias.

The special pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Attorney General.
