Up to 12 years in prison, a Russian military who raped a woman during the occupation of a village in Chernihiv region was condemned in absentia

The Chernihiv Regional Prosecutor's Office proved the guilt of a serviceman of the armed forces of the Russian Federation, who committed a war crime during the occupation of the region's territory. The court sentenced him to 12 years of imprisonment for violating the laws and customs of war (part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

In mid-March 2022, in one of the villages of the Chernihiv district, he entered the home of a local resident, where, threatening to kill and humiliating her dignity, he committed violent sexual acts against the victim.

A special pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings was conducted by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Chernihiv region with operational support from the Strategic Investigations Department in the Chernihiv region.
