Under the public prosecution of the prosecutors of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office, guilty verdicts have been issued in a special court proceeding against seven individuals who voluntarily collaborated with the enemy. Citizens of Ukraine residing and conducting "official activities" in temporarily occupied territories have been found guilty of holding positions in illegal "law enforcement agencies" (Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Prosecutors proved in court that the convicted acted on behalf of and at the direction of the aggressor state, effectively contributing to the establishment and strengthening of the occupying power of the Russian Federation.
The court sentences imposed penalties in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to:
• 15 years – for two individuals who held positions as "senior operative of the 2nd section of the economic security department" and "deputy head of the criminal investigation department" in the illegal structures of Melitopol and Berdiansk;
• 14 years – for two citizens who worked as "inspector of the group for the enforcement of administrative legislation" and "patrol officer" in the so-called "police department No. 3" in the town of Mykhailivka;
• 13 years – for two individuals who performed the duties of "operational duty officer of the duty unit" and "assistant operational duty officer" in illegal "police departments" in Enerhodar and Velyka Bilozirka;
• 12 years – for a citizen who worked as "inspector for the enforcement of administrative legislation" in "police department No. 4" in the city of Dniprovske.
All convicted individuals have also been deprived of the right to hold positions in state authorities for a period of 10 to 15 years, and all property has been confiscated.
The pre-trial investigation in these criminal proceedings was conducted by investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Zaporizhzhia region.
