Up to 15 years in prison was convicted

Under the public prosecution of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office, a 47-year-old man has been found guilty of committing treason, illegal possession of explosives, and justifying the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine (Part 2 of Article 111, Part 1 of Article 263, and Part 1 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

By the court's verdict, he was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The prosecutor proved in court that the accused, recruited by the FSB, was gathering and transmitting data about the location of military personnel and equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Shostka district of the Sumy region via messenger.

During conversations with local residents, the man was instilling pro-Russian sentiments in them.

Law enforcement officers detained the traitor on August 31, 2022. During a search, they seized a mobile phone from him, which contained evidence of illegal activities, as well as an electric detonator and about 500 grams of explosives at his place of residence.

He awaited the court's verdict in custody.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor by investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Sumy region.
