State traitors who fought on the side of the enemy were sentenced to 15 years in prison

Under the public prosecution of the prosecutors of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Central region, sentences have been handed down to two citizens for treason committed in a state of war (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

It has been established that the convicted individuals, being citizens of Ukraine, consciously sided with the aggressor country during the state of war and participated in combat actions against Ukraine.

Thus, one of the men, in November 2024, while on the territory of the Russian Federation, voluntarily signed a contract for military service and joined the ranks of the armed forces of the Russian Federation. In December 2024, he was transferred to the Luhansk region, where he carried out combat orders from the military command of the Russian Federation and prepared for an armed offensive against the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The other convicted individual, in January 2024, while on the territory of the Russian Federation, also voluntarily signed a contract and joined the armed forces of the aggressor country. After completing training, he was initially sent to the Luhansk region and later to the Kharkiv region, where he held combat positions, carried out combat tasks, and prepared for offensive actions against the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

During combat clashes with the defense forces in the territories of Luhansk and Kharkiv regions, they laid down their arms and were taken prisoner.

By the verdicts of the Solomiansky District Court of Kyiv, the servicemen were found guilty and sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in Kyiv and the Kyiv region with operational support from the Department of Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine.
