Under the public prosecution of the prosecutors of the Odesa Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Southern region, the court found the law enforcement officer guilty of organizing the illegal transportation of individuals across the state border of Ukraine and abusing his influence (Part 3 of Article 332, Part 2 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
By the court's verdict, he was sentenced to 4 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property and was deprived of the right to hold positions in the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine for 2 years.
The prosecutors proved in court that the convicted individual organized a scheme for the illegal transportation of conscription-age men across the state border of Ukraine to the Transnistrian Moldovan Republic.
To implement the criminal plan, he involved an acquaintance, whom he tasked with finding at least 2 individuals willing to cross the border. The cost of his "services" was set at 1,000 US dollars for each person. He also explained the crossing route in detail, illustrating the locations of the State Border Guard Service observation towers using the "Google Maps" application.
In case of refusal to participate, the suspect threatened his acquaintance with exposure and negative consequences.
Immediately after receiving the money, the border guard was detained by law enforcement officers in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Currently, the convicted individual is in custody.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Second Investigative Department (located in Odesa) of the State Bureau of Investigation in Mykolaiv.
