Palia of military cars in frontline Slavyansk was convicted of 8 years in prison

With the support of the public prosecution by the prosecutors of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, the court found a resident of Sloviansk guilty of obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations, as well as intentionally destroying and damaging property (Part 1 of Article 114-1, Part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He was sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment.

Prosecutors in court proved that in August 2024, a man, previously convicted of theft, found a message in Telegram about quick earnings. He was to identify military vehicles in the city, send their photos to a "curator," and after receiving "permission," set them on fire. Agreeing to this, within a few days, he doused 5 foreign cars used by our defenders with a flammable substance and set them on fire. He recorded the ignition processes on his phone for further transmission of the video recordings to the client.

As a result of the criminal actions, three vehicles were significantly damaged, and two were completely burned. The total amount of damages caused amounted to nearly 825 thousand UAH. In addition, the uncontrolled spread of fire posed a threat to the life and health of people nearby the fire sites and the integrity of their property.

The law enforcement agencies stopped the illegal activities of the arsonist. The pre-trial investigation and operational support were carried out by investigators of the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions and the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Donetsk region.
