With the support of the public prosecution, the prosecutors of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office found a 22-year-old woman guilty of trafficking her own child (part 3 of Article 149 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). 

She was sentenced to eight years of imprisonment.

Prosecutors proved in court that the woman from Kharkiv, who gave birth to a daughter on December 1, 2024, decided to sell her to an acquaintance just a month later. For her two-month-old daughter, the convicted woman wanted to receive 20,000 US dollars.

During the transfer of the agreed sum of money and the child, law enforcement officers detained the woman.

She awaited the verdict while in custody. During the court session, the woman fully admitted her guilt.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police in the Kharkiv region. Operational support was provided by the DSR of the National Police of Ukraine.
