Under the public prosecution of the Chernihiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, the leader of an armed gang has been found guilty of a series of serious crimes committed between 1999 and 2008. The court has imposed a final sentence of life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The investigation established that a resident of the city of Borzna created an armed group, recruiting individuals with special training. They were armed with firearms and cold weapons, and for the sake of concealment, the participants used changing vehicles and masks. The victims of the attacks were entrepreneurs and individuals who had significant amounts of cash after selling real estate.

The accomplices operated according to a well-established scheme: they searched for targets, entered homes under various pretexts, and, using physical violence, demanded money and valuables. In case of resistance, the victims were killed. A total of 14 individuals suffered from the gang's actions, including two minors. Five were killed. After the attacks, the property and money were distributed among the group members.

Prosecutors proved the leader's guilt in committing a number of offenses, including banditry, intentional murder, robbery, and illegal handling of weapons (paragraphs "a", "z", "i" of Article 93, part 3 of Article 142 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (as amended in 1960), parts 1, 2 of Article 263, Article 257, part 3 of Article 28, part 2 of Article 15, paragraphs 6, 12, 13 of part 2 of Article 115, part 4 of Article 187, part 3 of Article 185, part 2 of Article 262, part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (as amended in 2001).

Despite the fact that the convicted individual did not admit his guilt, the evidence presented became the basis for the maximum term of imprisonment.

Earlier, in 2014, the man had already been convicted for the murder of a couple in the Borzna district during a repeated attack on their home. The new sentence takes into account the totality of all identified crimes committed over the ten-year period of the gang's activity.
