The case of the post office in Odesa was sent to the court

Prosecutors have submitted an indictment to the court against a man who set fire to a post office in Odesa. The actions of the accused have been classified under part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentional damage to someone else's property by arson. He faces imprisonment for a term of 3 to 10 years.
The incident occurred in early September 2025. According to the investigation, the accused is a former cadet of the military training department of an educational institution in Odesa. He received an offer in one of the messengers to set fire to the post office for a monetary reward. Carrying out the task of an unidentified person, he placed a canister of gasoline at the entrance to the post office and ignited it.
The fire, which started after the explosion of the canister, damaged the doors, awning, lighting, and sign of the post office.
At the prosecutor's request, the court has taken the arsonist into custody with the right to post bail in the amount of 242,000 UAH, which he has not paid.
The procedural guidance is carried out by prosecutors of the Odesa Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Southern region. The pre-trial investigation is conducted by investigators of the investigative unit of the Odesa District Police Department No. 1 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odesa region.
Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
