A case was sent to the court regarding NAAS officials for the embezzlement of UAH 1.9 million worth of grain

The accused are an official of a local research institute of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences and her subordinate, the head of the grain storage.

Acting in collusion, they illegally issued 140 tons of millet and 160 tons of soybeans from the storage to unidentified individuals, which belonged to the state, that is, were the property of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine.

To conceal the shortage of grain, they continued to account for it in the documentation as available (in the "stocks" section), even though it was no longer physically present in the warehouses — it existed only "on paper".

An expert has confirmed that the amount of damages is 1.9 million UAH.

It is worth noting that law enforcement officers notified them of the suspicions in September regarding the misappropriation of someone else's property through abuse of office, committed in collusion by a group of individuals, in particularly large amounts, under martial law, and official forgery (part 5 of Article 191, part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by detectives of the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security in the Transcarpathian region under the procedural guidance of the Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor's Office. Operational support was provided by the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police of Ukraine.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
