An indictment was sent to the court against the leadership of KEV of Luhansk, which embezzled more than UAH 101 million for the purchase of wood for the Armed Forces

The Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Defense Sector of the Eastern Region has sent an indictment to the court regarding an organized criminal group, which included officials from the housing maintenance department of Luhansk and a private entrepreneur.
According to the investigation, in 2022 they organized a scheme to embezzle budget funds allocated for the purchase of fuel wood for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
During 2022–2024, the accused entered into contracts without conducting open tenders, purchasing wood at inflated prices through more than 20 controlled enterprises, through which they withdrew and legalized the funds.
47 instances of such purchases have been documented, causing the state losses of over 101 million hryvnias.
Five defendants are charged with embezzlement of another's property by abuse of office, committed repeatedly, under martial law, in particularly large amounts (Part 3 of Article 27, Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The organizer and two participants are also charged with the legalization of property obtained by criminal means (Part 3 of Article 27, Part 3 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
To recover damages, the property of the accused has been seized.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Territorial Administration of the State Bureau of Investigation in Kramatorsk.
