The case of the director of the enterprise, who embezzled UAH 20.5 million for the construction of modular shelters, was referred to the court

Prosecutors of Kyiv region have sent an indictment to the court against the director of a private enterprise under part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — misappropriation of someone else's property by abusing one's official position, committed on a particularly large scale, in conditions of martial law.

According to the investigation, the director of the contracting company, abusing his official position, embezzled 20.5 million UAH of budget funds in June 2024, which were allocated for the construction of modular shelters on the territory of an educational institution in one of the communities of Bucha district.

The investigation confirmed: the modular shelters established by the contractor do not meet the requirements of state standards and building codes (DBN), thus their use may pose a threat to life and health. We remind you that the illegal activities were exposed and stopped by prosecutors of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office in cooperation with the police. At the beginning of October, the director was notified of suspicion.

The pre-trial investigation in the case was conducted by investigators of the Bucha District Police Department under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
