A man suspected of negligent homicide was extradited to Ukraine from Poland

As a result of the consideration of the request from the Office of the Prosecutor General, the competent authorities of the Republic of Poland have decided to extradite a citizen of Ukraine who is suspected of manslaughter (part 1 of Article 119 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, in August 2016, a dispute arose between two visitors in one of the establishments in the city of Khmelnytskyi, during which the suspect struck the victim in the head.

After a prolonged stay in a coma, the man died, and the suspect left the territory of Ukraine, which led to him being placed on an international wanted list.

In June 2025, the suspect was detained on the territory of the Republic of Poland, and on October 16, he was handed over to Ukrainian law enforcement at the international checkpoint "Medika-Shehyni".

He has been remanded in custody without the right to bail.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the investigative department of the Khmelnytskyi District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Khmelnytskyi region.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
