Two doctors are suspected of illegally taking money for services not provided

Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Office of the Attorney General, two officials from one of the capital's healthcare institutions have been notified of suspicion. They are suspected of receiving budget funds for medical services that were not actually provided to patients.

This concerns mobile palliative care - a home medical support service for people with severe, incurable diseases, where doctors visit homes to alleviate pain and monitor patients' conditions. These services were supposed to be provided by the healthcare institution in 2024 under the terms of the contract with the National Health Service.

According to the investigation, the former director of the medical facility and a doctor entered false information into the electronic healthcare system about allegedly provided palliative care to adults and children. In reality, visits, examinations, and medical procedures in the declared volumes were not conducted.

Based on this data, the institution received over 1.6 million UAH from the state budget for services that were not provided.

Currently, the issue of choosing preventive measures in the form of detention for the suspects is being resolved.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings is being conducted by detectives from the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine. The operational support for this criminal proceeding is provided by employees of the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police of Ukraine.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
