Two residents of Kherson region are suspected of collaboration during occupation

The Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor's Office and the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office have reported suspicions against two residents of the Kherson region for collaboration activities for cooperating with Russian occupiers (Part 4 and Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, a resident of the village of Nova Kamianka in the Beryslav district, from March to October 2022 during the occupation, voluntarily organized the accommodation of Russian soldiers, demanding keys from local residents and supplying food to their military base. For these actions, she received protection from the occupying authorities, unhindered movement in the occupied territory, and other privileges not available to the residents of the region. After the de-occupation of Kherson region, the woman moved to the Dnipropetrovsk region, where she was located and detained.

She is currently in custody.

The other suspect, a 40-year-old resident of Kherson, worked as a "junior inspector" in the "Northern Correctional Colony No. 90," established by the occupiers. He guarded the cells with detained Ukrainian citizens. After the liberation of Kherson, the man went into hiding but was detained by law enforcement in the city. He faces up to 15 years in prison with property confiscation.

He is also currently in custody.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
