Under the public prosecution of the Volyn Regional Prosecutor's Office, the court found a former official of the regional state administration guilty of extortion and receiving illegal benefits (part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

She was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. The woman was also deprived of the right to hold positions in state authorities and local self-government, state administration and control bodies, and enterprises or organizations of state or communal ownership for two years.

Prosecutors proved that the head of the transport and communications department of the Volyn Regional State Administration demanded a bribe from an individual entrepreneur for winning a competition for passenger transportation on a suburban bus route. 

The illegal benefit amounted to 1,500 US dollars.

The civil servant was detained in March 2021 while receiving the money.

In addition, by the court's decision, the convicted person was deprived of the 5th rank of civil servant within the category "B" of the civil service.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the investigative department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Volyn region.
