Fictitious repair of armored vehicles with losses of UAH 5.4 million - the Ministry of Defense official was informed of suspicion

The deputy head of the quality control group of one of the military representations of the Ministry of Defense personally signed financial and economic documents that allegedly confirmed the quality repair of armored personnel carriers carried out by a local enterprise.

However, as it turned out, part of the work was actually not completed. An initial engineering and technical forensic examination confirmed that several of the so-called "repaired" combat vehicles are defective and unfit for operation – they do not even start.

Despite this, the lieutenant colonel responsible for organizing timely, complete, and accurate quality control of the work had no comments or objections. Based on his conclusions, invoices for payment amounting to over 5.4 million hryvnias were issued. As a result, this amount was unjustifiably paid by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

Prosecutors of the Lviv Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Western region informed the military official of suspicion regarding the negligent attitude of a military official to service. At the request of the prosecution, a preventive measure was chosen for him, and he was also suspended from performing official duties. A legal assessment of the actions of other officials of the mentioned enterprise is being provided, and measures are being taken to hold those responsible accountable.

Pre-trial investigation under part 4 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is being conducted by investigators of the regional police department, with operational support from the Security Service of Ukraine.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
