Prosecutors of the Kirovohrad Regional Prosecutor's Office reported suspicion against a 40-year-old resident of the Chernihiv region for organizing the illegal transportation of a person across the state border of Ukraine for selfish motives (part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the woman, who has a second group disability, met a conscripted man from Kropyvnytskyi through the social network Facebook, who is prohibited from leaving the country during martial law. She proposed to enter into a fictitious marriage so that the man could accompany her as a "wife," crossing the border on legal grounds.
The woman valued her services at 350,000 hryvnias. According to the agreement, the man was to pay 3,000 US dollars at the time of marriage, another 3,000 dollars after leaving the country, and also transfer her 16,000 hryvnias monthly for "maintenance" for six months.
The couple submitted an application for marriage registration and received a certificate at the Fortecny Department of State Registration of Civil Status Acts in Kropyvnytskyi. During the receipt of part of the agreed sum — 142,000 hryvnias — the woman was caught "in the act" in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
This article provides for a punishment of up to nine years of imprisonment. Currently, the suspect has been placed under house arrest as a preventive measure.
Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
