The population was filtered in the occupied Mariupol. Will judge an organized group of pseudo -law enforcement agencies in absentia
16.07.2025
Prosecutors of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, as part of a special pre-trial investigation, have sent an indictment to the court regarding 4 fake law enforcement officers. They are charged with aiding a state aggressor, committed by an organized group, and collaborative activities (Part 3 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 111-2, Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
In 2022, when Russian troops captured Mariupol, the newly appointed "acting head of the local police department of the DNR" decided to form a group to conduct filtration measures. He involved his deputy, the "acting head of the investigative department," and the "driver of the duty unit" in the implementation of this plan.
To identify pro-Ukrainian residents, participants of the ATO/JFO, servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and their relatives, they set up checkpoints. The pseudo-law enforcement officers detained citizens, interrogated them, and conducted forced searches.
During these filtration procedures, the accused photographed people, took fingerprints, and checked mobile phones. Additionally, using Kremlin narratives, they conducted active propaganda work and persuaded the population to cooperate with the occupying authorities.
The pre-trial investigation and operational support are carried out by the Investigative Unit and the Main Department of the National Police in the Donetsk region.
Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
