Prosecutors of the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office have notified the chief state inspector of one of the departments of taxes and fees from individuals and conducting desk audits of the taxation of individuals of the State Tax Service in the Cherkasy region of suspicion. The official is accused of committing criminal offenses (part 1 of Article 362 and part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the state official, abusing her powers, accessed the information and communication system of the State Tax Service using her personal login and password and, without legal grounds, issued two tax notifications regarding the payment of real estate tax. The total amount of the charges was 500 thousand hryvnias.

Such actions led to the unauthorized destruction of information and the actual non-receipt of the specified funds into the budget. The investigation is also establishing the circumstances of the receipt of unlawful benefits by another person, in whose interests these actions may have been committed.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Fourth Investigative Department (located in Cherkasy) of the Territorial Administration of the State Bureau of Investigation in Kyiv based on materials from the Department for Prevention and Detection of Corruption of the State Tax Service of Ukraine.

 Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
