31.07.2025
Within the framework of international legal cooperation with the competent authorities of the Federal Republic of Germany, the extradition of a resident of Shepetivka, who was wanted on charges of offering and providing unlawful benefits to an official (part 3 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), has been secured.
At the international checkpoint "Krakivets-Korchowa," the man was handed over to Ukrainian law enforcement authorities.
The pre-trial investigation established that he, together with a relative, offered the investigator 1,800 US dollars for the destruction of evidence and materials of the criminal proceedings. For this money, which was handed over in a pack of cigarettes, they attempted to bribe their brother out of criminal liability for theft with breaking and entering into someone else's home.
During the court proceedings on the indictment, the man, who was under bail, did not appear at the hearings, and it later turned out that he had left for the Republic of Poland.
In February 2025, he was detained on the territory of Germany.
Currently, at the request of the prosecutor's office, the extradited individual has been taken into custody. The bail money deposited by the accused has been confiscated for the state.
Measures to establish the whereabouts and detain the accomplice, who has been placed on international wanted lists, are ongoing.
The public prosecution in court is supported by the Volochysk District Prosecutor's Office of the Khmelnytskyi region.
Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
