Torture in the Kyiv region: the prosecutor's office informed about suspicion to the Russian occupier

Under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, a Russian military officer has been identified and notified of suspicion in absentia for cruel treatment of civilians, committed by a group of individuals (Part 1 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The suspect is a junior lieutenant of the 36th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 29th Army of the Eastern Military District of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

According to the investigation, in March 2022, during the occupation of the village of Vovchky in the Vyshhorod district of Kyiv region, he, along with other Russian servicemen, entered the house of a local resident.

The armed occupier struck the man because he refused to hand over the battery from his car. From the blow, the victim fell to the ground, after which the attacker continued to mock him — hitting him with his hands and weapon on the body and head.

The investigation is ongoing. Other individuals involved in this war crime are being identified.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the Security Service of Ukraine in Kyiv and the Kyiv region. Operational support is provided by the Vyshhorod District Department of the Security Service of Ukraine in Kyiv and the Kyiv region.
