The Office of the Prosecutor General, together with the State Bureau of Investigations, has exposed the general director of the state enterprise "Forests of Ukraine" for illegal enrichment.

According to the investigation, a civil servant of category "A," while serving as the Head of the State Agency of Forest Resources of Ukraine in 2021, acquired assets worth over 10.4 million UAH, which significantly exceed his legal income. Among the assets not confirmed by declared income are: an apartment in Kyiv worth over 9 million UAH, which was registered in the name of a controlled person and was actually used by the suspect, as well as 8 plots of land with a total area of 24 hectares. It has been established that the difference between the acquired assets and official income during the specified period exceeds 7.9 million UAH.

The general director of the state enterprise "Forests of Ukraine" has been detained and informed of the suspicion under Article 368-5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal enrichment).

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Main Investigative Department of the State Bureau of Investigations with operational support from the Main Operational Department of the State Bureau of Investigations.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
