The manager of a mine in Lviv Oblast will be tried for unjustified non-payment of over UAH 27 million in salary

In Lviv region, law enforcement officers have completed the pre-trial investigation into the case of prolonged non-payment of wages to employees of a coal mining enterprise. Prosecutors of the Sheptytsky District Prosecutor's Office have sent an indictment to the court regarding the acting director of the mine.

According to the investigation, the official had both the authority and the actual financial capability to pay the employees, but deliberately did not do so. Ignoring the legal requirements regarding the priority of wage payments, funds were directed to other needs of the enterprise.

In particular, money intended for wage payments was spent on fuel, auto parts, timber, as well as for conducting cultural and mass events. At the same time, mine workers went for months without receiving their earned wages.

According to preliminary data, in just 2025, the wage arrears reached over 20 million UAH. The total debt to the employees of the enterprise exceeded 27 million UAH.

The actions of the official have been classified under Part 1 of Article 175 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - unjustified non-payment of wages. The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Sheptytsky District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
