An official of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Transcarpathian region, who was responsible for organizing and conducting procurements, ensured the purchase of network equipment at deliberately inflated prices by almost 1 million hryvnias. This concerns two sets of switches necessary for the reconstruction of the information and communication systems of operational coordination centers.

According to the investigation materials, he did not conduct a proper market analysis and did not verify the accuracy of the price proposals. As a result, a private company participating in the tender received an excess amount of funds from the budget. An expert examination confirmed the damages incurred.

The official has been notified of suspicion of abuse of office, which caused severe consequences (part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Within the framework of the pre-trial investigation, the prosecutor's office submitted a motion for the selection of a preventive measure and removal from the position held. Other involved persons are being identified.

Under the procedural guidance of the Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor's Office, the pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Territorial Administration of the State Bureau of Investigation located in Lviv, with operational support from the Transcarpathian Department of the National Police of Ukraine.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
