The incident occurred on May 25, 2025, at one of the special institutions of general secondary education in Cherkasy region. 

According to the investigation, 14 children and 6 adults sought medical attention at a local hospital due to mass poisoning. It was established that the patients were infected with the bacterium Salmonella enterica. All of them are either students or staff of the boarding school. 

According to the results of forensic medical examinations, the bacterium was found on kitchen utensils.

The official responsible for the nutrition of students and staff and for adhering to sanitary and hygienic and sanitary-epidemiological rules failed to ensure proper sanitary and hygienic conditions in the food service areas. The result of his attitude towards his duties was mass infection.

Under the procedural guidance of the Smiila District Prosecutor's Office, he has been notified of suspicion of violating sanitary rules and norms regarding the prevention of infectious diseases and mass poisonings (Part 1 of Article 325 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The issue of choosing a preventive measure is being resolved.
