As a result, the truck, in an uncontrolled state, veered into the oncoming lane and collided with a Mercedes Sprinter minibus, which had passengers on board.

As a result of the injuries sustained in the accident, the driver of the minibus and seven of his passengers, including one minor, were killed. The driver of the truck and another passenger of the minibus sustained injuries of varying severity and were hospitalized.

After the accident, the driver and passenger fled the scene, leaving the vehicle on the roadside.
