In Bukovyna, a deputy of the city council was exposed for illegal mining of sand and gravel mixture

The head of the Chernivtsi regional prosecutor's office signed a notice of suspicion against a deputy of the Vashkivtsi city council for the illegal extraction of minerals of national significance (part 2 of Article 240 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the deputy, disregarding the law, carried out unauthorized extraction of sand and gravel mixture from a pit in the riverbed of the Cheremosh River in the territory of the Vashkivtsi community in the Vyzhnytsia district without the necessary permits. 

The volume of illegally extracted minerals corresponds to the capacity of a cargo truck - over 3 cubic meters.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Vyzhnytsia district police department under the procedural guidance of the Vyzhnytsia district prosecutor's office.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict.
