Prosecutors of the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor's Office, together with the police, have completed the investigation into the embezzlement of budget funds during the construction of a sports ground in the Dnistrovskyi district.

In 2023, the Klishkivtsi Village Council signed a contract with a private construction company for an amount exceeding 3 million UAH. However, part of the work on the site was never completed. Despite this, documents for the acceptance of the work were signed, and the village council transferred the entire amount of funds. As a result, the contractor unjustly received almost 1 million UAH for the unfinished site.

An indictment has been sent to court against the head of the village council, the director of the construction company, and an engineer. They are accused of embezzlement and misappropriation of someone else's property through abuse of office, as well as official forgery (Part 5 of Article 191, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police in the Chernivtsi region with operational support from the Strategic Investigations Department in the Chernivtsi region.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
