From June to September 2025, a 52-year-old resident of the village of Ostrytsia in the Chernivtsi region rented warehouse premises in Chernivtsi, where he produced "burnt" alcohol. He sold the finished products directly from his car among the trading rows of the city market.

During the searches, law enforcement officers seized 2,700 liters of counterfeit alcohol, equipment for its bottling, counterfeit excise stamps, and notebooks with rough notes confirming the production process. The seized items have been confiscated. 

Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor's Office, the man has been notified of suspicion under Part 1, Part 2 of Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — illegal acquisition for the purpose of sale, storage, sale, and illegal production of excise goods.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by detectives of the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security in the Chernivtsi region.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
