In Bukovina, a special diesel fuel sales scheme was exposed - two military personnel were detained

Under the procedural guidance of the Chernivtsi Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Western region, a scheme for the illegal sale of special diesel fuel intended for the needs of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the winter period has been uncovered.
Since May 2025, the head of the military equipment, armament, and logistics service of the battalion, together with a soldier from one of the supply battalions of the Ground Forces, sold fuel to private carriers and entrepreneurs in the territories of Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, and Chernivtsi regions.
During the illegal sale of 20 tons of diesel fuel, one of the military personnel was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine in Kyiv region, while another was detained in Dnipropetrovsk region.
During searches at the temporary deployment point of the military unit, over 30 tons of diesel fuel were seized, as well as documents and notes confirming the sale of a large batch of fuel to third parties.
Both detainees have been notified of suspicion for the theft and misappropriation of military property committed using their official position under martial law (part 4 of Article 410 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
At the request of the prosecutors, they have been placed in custody with the right to post bail – over 1.5 and almost 2 million UAH. Currently, the involvement of other military personnel in the commission of this crime is being investigated. If proven guilty, the military faces imprisonment for 10 to 15 years.
The pre-trial investigation and operational support are conducted by the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation in Khmelnytskyi.
Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
